Analytical match report provides comprehensive break down of specific games. Conclusions of analysts are supported with data from this game’s statistical and fitness reports. The emphasis is on key moments that have influenced the final result. Like all other InStat reports, match break down is based on ‘general-to-specific’ principle. ‘Macro indicators’ of the whole match are broken down first. For instance, we try to find out cause-and-effect relation between mistake percentage and ball movement speed in attack or explain a team’s advantage in the number of shots. Every team’s attacking and defending actions are broken down individually. In this case the stress is on tactics and players’ teamwork analysis. While describing attacking actions we explain, for example, how the team was shifting forward from defense, what zones it used to combine and how it affected efficiency of ball delivery to the box; consider relation between the number of key passes and efficiency of ball delivery to the box and much more. Special attention is paid to players’ indicators and their interaction with teammates in certain zones.

I read InStat analytical reports regularly and can note the following: these reports are very accurate, comprehensive, they contain plenty of data that coaches and analysts need.

After analyzing attacking actions of a team we switch to their opponent’s defense. This break down is based on detecting their strong and weak sides while defending. Here we look at specific traits of position defense and reacting to the rival’s counter attacks. In case major mistakes were conceded, these episodes are further scrutinized. Apart from defensive and attacking performance, reports also describe tactical changes in the course of the game that were caused by substitutions or happened before them. If a player’s performance was much better or worse than average indicators, it is also noted. Hence, all key moments that have affected the final result are taken into consideration.

I would like to say a few words about analytical reports on opponents, provided to us by InStat, because this information is extremely important for our coaching staff. We do have our own opinion about strong and weak sides of our opponents, but InStat analytical reports give us unbiased independent evaluation of our rivals’ performance. Every now and then we use this evaluation while preparing tactics for upcoming games.

The report is structured nicely for user convenience as all game aspects are broken down on separate pages. General information on the squad, its strong and weak sides is followed by comprehensive analysis of possession attacks, counter attacks and defensive performance. And every game aspect is supported with graphics illustrating the team’s most common tactical actions. All plans are thoroughly described in analytical part. The report’s specific feature is that it includes both statistical information and analytical break down. Team’s indicators for a certain period of time, typically for current season, are scrutinized in this section. The emphasis falls to the club’s latest matches.

Comprehensive statistical report comes as a bonus for attack and defense description. There are references to that report in analytical section.

The main specific feature of a team’s analytical report is comprehensive breakdown of actions at set pieces. Specific episodes are analyzed for that matter. Above graphic visualization of corners and free kicks there is an indication of match and minute in which such a set piece happened. This game aspect is paid special attention to as it is set pieces that show team’s homework in the first place. Analytical material and schemes complete each other just like on the other pages.

At the end of report there is brief characteristics and comprehensive statistical summary on each player.
